Upcoming Event: Presentation

Date: Saturday February 20th 2010, 1:00pm

Virtualization Presentation

The presentation will be a walk-through of setting up a private cloud infrastructure, comparable in capabilities and flexibility to Amazon EC2, Slicehost, or Rackspace Cloud, and limited only by the amount and power of the computer hardware available. We will start with an Ubuntu Server installation disc and a couple computer systems, and end with a small cluster of Linux servers from which an administrator can launch, run, and kill virtualized servers through remote management tools. The presentation will be a live demonstration, with the opportunity for questions and discussion while we wait at certain points for OSes to install and images to transfer. Attendees can expect to be shown how easy it now is to set up an impressive, powerful virtualization environment in very little time.

Shaun has been involved with computer systems for over 23 years years, dabbling most frequently in the areas of security, networking, and Linux/UNIX. He is the owner of TekSolid Managed IT Solutions, an IT consulting and services company based in Kennewick, Washington. When not working with computers, Shaun enjoys mountain biking, video gaming, and performance DJing, for which he is recognized internationally.

We will be meeting att at the Kennewick public library (1620 South Union Stree) at 1:00 this week instead of WSU.

Who are we?

The Tri-City Linux User Group 3CLUG is an informal group of computer enthusiasts interested in using the Linux operating system on their computers at home, school and business.

Our Meeting Schedule

We meet twice each month.

On the 2nd Saturday of each month, we meet at the WSU Tri-Cities Campus, in room West 252 at 1:00pm. This is a "formal" (and we use the term loosely) session where you can bring in your box for installations, demos, and tutorials. We offer talks by various members and guests on various aspects of Linux and Linux applications.

On the 4th Saturday of every month at 1 pm we get together for an informal chit-chat and general "shoot the breeze" session. We meet at Round Table Pizza in Kennewick (3300 W Clearwater Ave).

Topics range from newbie install and how-to to setting up a network.
